Objectives:

The primary objectives of DBAR ICoE-Bangkok are to consolidate its administrative and dissemination functions, ensuring streamlined operations and effective communication. It aims to continuously identify knowledge gaps and address the needs for applying Big Data to support Thailand’s progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by fostering innovative research initiatives. Furthermore, the center seeks to strengthen professional networks within Thailand and across the Asia-Pacific region, focusing on SDG progress monitoring, assessment, and reporting through the integration of multi-source Big Data. These efforts collectively contribute to advancing sustainable development in the region.

Activities

This project focuses on strengthening the role of the DBAR International Centre of Excellence (ICoE) in Bangkok through strategic planning and innovative approaches to SDG research and monitoring. It aims to address critical data and knowledge gaps, build regional networks, enhance capacity, and conduct integrated assessments of SDG progress at the provincial level in Thailand. The research methodology includes data screening, stakeholder and expert consultations, collaborative data gap filling, spatial and temporal analysis, and the creation of a robust integrated assessment framework.

Outcome:

  • Publish two SDG-focused studies by 2026, targeting five Scopus citations by 2028.
  • Build capacity for 20–30 professionals and foster Thailand-China-Southeast Asia collaborations.
  • Develop policies and training to enhance SDG monitoring and implementation.
  • Address data gaps through open-data consolidation and new data creation.
  • Conduct integrated SDG assessments and support local stakeholder planning.
