Application of Big Earth Data in Support of the Sustainable Development Goals in Thailand

Objectives:

The main objective of this project is to generate and apply big earth data for monitoring and assessing selected indicators associated with the SDGs, thus providing implications for the integration and mainstreaming of technology into policy towards the implementation of SDGs in Thailand .

Activities

The project involved collecting secondary data from government sources and primary data through field surveys, complemented by Earth observation technologies such as MODIS, HIMAWARI, Landsat-8, and Sentinel-2. Innovative scientific methods were demonstrated in selected areas, while workshops engaged stakeholders to share findings and foster collaboration.

Outcomes:

  • Integrated diverse data sources for comprehensive SDG assessments.
  • Developed a collaborative platform for real-time SDG progress tracking.
  • Proposed context-specific indicators tailored to Thailand.
  • Provided actionable policy recommendations and strengthened stakeholder capacities.
