Integrated Assessment of SDGs Using Big Earth Observation Data for Bangkok Metropolitan Region (BMR)

Objective:

The project aims to develop an integrated assessment of selected SDGs using the big Earth Observation (EO) technology in synergy with regional and local monitoring data and information applicable to the BMR. The primary objective is to develop a set of indicators and data baseline for integrated assessment of SDGs in BMR for enhancing the integrated achievement of strategic sustainability of the metropolitan with the specific objectives.

Activities

The project carried out during the next three years, covering: Phase 1 – development of a framework and integrated methodology, including stakeholder participation with priority SDGs and targets; Phase 2 – development of the EO technology for supporting the monitoring and assessment of identified SDGs indicators and demonstrate these methodologies; and Phase 3: development of good practices and interlinked strategies.

Outcomes:

  • Created a robust SDG reporting framework tailored to urban contexts.
  • Improved stakeholder understanding of urban development indicators.
  • Enhanced capacity for data-driven urban planning and sustainable development initiatives.
